This is one of the most talented estates in the Santenay appellation , south of the Côte de Beaune , recently and deservedly honored by the new and highly controversial Michelin Guide classification. Jean-Marc Vincent and his wife Anne-Marie took over the family domaine in 1997.
The property covers 6 hectares cultivated according to organic principles without certification and with the progressive expansion of high-density plantings to obtain fewer grapes per vine and more concentrated; this Gravières cuvée is in fact made from vines planted at 17,000 vines per hectare.
2019 was a "sunny" year and one of our favorite vintages of the last 20 years. In both red and white, the wines are remarkably rich (yields were low) while retaining structure and elegant profiles. This is certainly true of this Gravières, a terroir renowned for producing full-bodied red wines, which in 2019 presents itself with great lusciousness, style, smooth, fine tannins, and a beautiful persistence. And the wine is far from having revealed its full potential.
