Label drinkers, eternal "snobs" of tasting, don't know what pleasure they're missing by wrinkling their noses at the exit of Beaujolais new, Beaujolais And Beaujolais - villages The third Thursday of November, that is to say tomorrow, the 16th. This event is first and foremost a wine festival, a historic and joyous occasion that also offers a first glimpse of the new vintage. On this point, 2023 will not be the vintage of the century, but the year is shaping up well, and if roughly a third of the hundred or so samples tasted received scores of 15.5 out of 20 or higher, that's a good sign! The vintage is good, even very good, for the winemakers of the Beaujolais who have managed to control the vigor of the vines and their 2023 vintage offers beautiful colors, straightforward fruitiness, and good balance. This tasting demonstrates that trends are emerging year after year, such as the rise of "natural" wines (with far fewer deviations than in 2022) and an increasing number of "organic" estates; 37% of the wines selected below are organic. The figures are not yet known, but approximately 150,000 hectoliters of Beaujolais And Beaujolais - Villages New products from 2023 are expected to be marketed, half of them for export.
