François Pinault takes control of Bouchard Père et Fils

Since Friday, September 30, 2022, "the Pinault and Henriot families, owners of Artémis Domaines and Maisons & Domaines Henriot respectively, have combined their vineyards; this merger creates a unique entity in the world of exceptional wines . " The press release is perfectly clear and specifies that: " the new entity , which retains the name Artémis Domaines, is majority- owned by the Pinault family , alongside which the families owning Maisons & Domaines Henriot are minority shareholders . " The Bouchard Père et Fils maison founded in 1731 by Michel Bouchard, a cloth merchant from the Dauphiné region, which remained in the same family for 264 years before being acquired in 1995 by the Henriot family of Champagne, has thus come under the control of the Pinault family. The new entity has a supervisory board chaired by Gilles de Larouzière Henriot and will be managed by Frédéric Engerer, CEO of Artémis Domaines, with all the teams .

In Burgundian history

 

With the resumption of the maison Bouchard Père et Fils, François Pinault, who already owns in Burgundy the Clos of Tart and the domaine of Eugénie (ex domaine René Engel) lays his hands on one of the Burgundian crown jewels. Bouchard Père is indeed a maison of renowned trade and 130 hectares of estates in Côte-d'Or, 78 to Chablis With William Fèvre, grand cru and premier cru wines abound. Let's mention a few blanc Montrachet (89 ares), Chevalier -Montrachet (with 2.54 hectares, the maison is the largest owner in Chevalier ), Bâtard -Montrachet, Corton - Charlemagne , six great vintages of Chablis and in rouge : Corton Bonnes-Mares, Echezeaux , Clos -of- Vougeot Chambertin, Chambertin Clos of Bèze Chapelle-Chambertin and Charmes-Chambertin.
