The owner of Château of Moulin-à-Vent strengthens its position in the Mâconnais region by taking over the domaine Corsin, in Davayé.
Owner of château of Moulin à Vent (30 ha) and the domaine of Roc des Boutires (5 ha of pouilly-fuissé ), the Parinet family has just acquired the domaine Corsin, emblematic of Davayé and the AOC pouilly-fuissé (5 ha) and especially saint-véran (8 ha).
A takeover, certainly, but one of continuity, since Jérémy Corsin and his teams remain in place, as well as the name " domaine Corsin. “ This is the first time we’ve acquired an domaine that already has a commercial identity ,” notes Edouard Parinet. “We want to benefit from their expertise in Mâconnais wines, and in return, we’re providing them with an efficient distribution network (150,000 to 200,000 bottles sold per year) and a large staff .”
This acquisition will allow for the specialization of the sites. Thus, only the moulin-à-vent will now be vinified in Romanèche-Thorins while all the white wines (including Roc des Boutires) will be vinified in Davayé, at 404 rue des Plantés.
" Saint-Véran , a appellation "with high potential"
This strategic reinforcement of the white wines of the Mâconnais region is hardly surprising at a time when the markets of rouge are tightening. This acquisition will be " an opportunity to have saint-véran , an AOC with great potential, both very high quality with excellent terroirs and also very accessible for consumers. The Corsin domaine will also allow us to complete our Pouilly-Fussé offering, particularly around the hamlet of Pouilly, which is interesting for its altitude and its more calcareous soil. We will thus be able to offer three Premier Crus around this area: Pouilly, Aux Chailloux and Aux Bouthières ," explains the buyer.
Should we expect changes in farming practices or wine style? More or less. " We're counting on Jérémy to perpetuate the Corsin spirit. These wines are very good, we know them ! Now, we're going to work hand in hand with Brice (Editor's note: cellar master of the château “From the Moulin à Vent), Jérémy and I will exchange ideas a lot, and this will naturally lead to changes. We are particularly thinking about isolating one or two saint-véran terroirs that deserve it ,” announces Edouard, who also plans to develop the visitor experience at domaine of Davayé.
