Méo-Camuzet extends over Volnay And Pommard

Méo-Camuzet, domaine "Star" based in Vosne-Romanée, in côte de Nuits has just acquired the 3.4 hectares (ha) of vineyards of pinot noir of domaine François Mure et Fils, spread across Volnay And Pommard , on the coast of Beaune .

HAS Volnay These are plots of land premier cru The Mitans, but also a wide variety of plots in appellation village (Grands Poisots, Grand Champs, Gigotte, Famines, Cros Martin, Lurets …). At Pommard We also find many different plots in appellation village (Cras, Rue au Port, Poisot, Vaumurien, Combotte, La Vache…).

An opportunity to seize

"This investment, made without recourse to outside investors, was made in a dual context. Jean-Louis Mure was retiring, without a successor, and a great opportunity presented arose. What's more, with almost 3.5 hectares, the size of the estate was sufficient to have technical premises and a dedicated team. It was a coherent investment. On the other hand, our grape trading business launched in 1999 (Méo-Camuzet Frère et Sœurs) was becoming complicated to manage. Prices have risen sharply in recent years, and we don't always get the quality we expect. At one time, the wine trade represented almost 50% of the estate's volumes, but this percentage has now dropped to 25-30%", explains Jean-Nicolas Méo.

THE domaine until now it covered 18 hectares under direct management, including, for the grand cru vineyards, the Clos of Vougeot (close to Château in the upper part of the clos ), Richebourg, Échezeaux (locality known as Les Rouges du Bas), not forgetting Les Cortons ( Clos Rognet, Perrières , the Vineyard at Saint (for a total of 1.30 ha) on Ladoix -Serrigny and Aloxe - Corton , which until then had been the only incursion onto the coast of Beaune .

Magnified by Henri Jayer

In addition, there are the Vosne-Romanée Premier Crus Cros-Parantoux and Aux Brûlées, magnificently produced by Henri Jayer, Jean-Nicolas Méo's mentor, Les Chaumes, the Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Crus Aux Boudots and Aux Murgers, the Nuits and Vosne villages The Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits (the Clos Saint-Philibert) on the heights of Flagey, above Échezeaux and the Clos of Vougeot planted in chardonnay complete in blanc the range of red wines made from the grape variety pinot noir .

Méo-Camuzet harvested the 2025 vintage from these new vines on the coast of Beaune whose production will initially be marketed under the trading label.
