Donations continue today at the Hospices de Beaune and Nuits. In Nuits, a little over 40 ares of vines have been added to the vineyard, which now covers 12.4 hectares. Among these new areas is a 25-are plot classified as Nuits-Saint-Georges. premier cru The Damodes. The grapes from this vine will allow the creation of a new cuvée named Michel Trapet, in reference to the former owner of the vineyards, son of the winemaker Edmond Trapet who had worked them until his hospitalization at the Hospices de Nuits in 1965.
Two other plots complete this contribution: 7 ares in appellation Nuits-Saint-Georges villages Saint-Jacques and 8 ares in Nuits-Saint-Georges villages The Damodes. The grapes from these vines will be incorporated into the cuvée of Nuits-Saint-Georges villages Saint-Jacques. These plots will be uprooted and then replanted, which means that their contribution to the wines will not be effective for several years.
A new cuvée
However, the cuvée Michel Trapet should indeed be featured at the next Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges wine auction in March 2027, in order to "honor the memory of this winemaker and perpetuate the close link between the Domaine and the history of the territory.” Like other wines from the domaine It will be used for this sale, the proceeds of which contribute to financing the hospital and medico-social activities of the establishment. "It also testifies to the vitality of a beautiful centuries-old tradition of donations, bequests and acts of charity in favor of hospital establishments," share the Hospices of Nuits-Saint-Georges.
