Kick-off for the City of Climates & Wines of Mâcon

The cellar of aromas.

Finally! After initial planning that began in 2018, many months of work, and an opening postponed several times, the Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne in Mâcon is opening its doors, before Chablis mid-May (it will be open for the Ascension Day long weekend), and Beaune Mid-June. "This project goes far beyond the purely commercial interests of the industry," explains Olivier Le Roy, director of the three sites. "It benefits the entire region, both in terms of tourism and culture." On the ground floor of the building, you'll find the ticket office, a shop selling regional products and a bookstore, as well as a tasting area. To explore the visitor experience, there's an entrance fee of €9, which includes a connected wristband and a tasting of two wines; a very reasonable price, allowing as many people as possible to be transported by the history of Burgundy wines along an immersive and sensory path. The entire exhibition design is based on the theme of layers, with 11 themed areas featuring alternating video, audio, and cartographic content. An aroma cellar helps visitors identify the most characteristic aromas of Burgundy wines, while children haven't been forgotten, with specially designed play areas.
