The two collective vintages of the 2024 Saint-Vincent Tournante from Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle- Musigny .

And what wines will you be tasting at the Saint-Vincent Tournante?

See you next weekend, January 27th and 28th, in Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle- Musigny , two "star" names of the Côte de Nuits which will host the 2024 Saint-Vincent Tournante . Issue 174 of Bourgogne Aujourd'hui features a special section on the event. Below you will find the article highlighting the wines that will be offered for tasting and served in a "collector's" glass.

14,000 bottles will be offered for tasting on January 27th and 28th, and the largest quantity, 9,000 bottles, comes from donations made by 170 winegrowers and wine merchants/producers across the two villages The donations of bottles were based on twenty-four bottles per hectare of Burgundy, eighteen in villages Twelve Premier Crus and four Grand Crus. These bottles will be anonymized and distributed among the fourteen themed cellars open on both villages When you taste a Morey-Saint-Denis, you will therefore not know the producer and another cuvée de morey- villages The wine offered two cellars away will likely come from a different winery. Note that the wines from both cellars villages will be offered in both villages to facilitate movement and traffic flow. These bottled wine donations were complemented by two "round" vintages of 2022 Morey and Chambolle reds, this time made almost exclusively from grape donations from around fifty producers (some of whom also donated bottles). The grapes were received over about ten days and sorted collectively by winemakers from both villages chilled to 10°C and vinified at Domaine Rémy, in Morey-Saint-Denis. The winemaking, also a collective effort, was carried out with 10% whole cluster fermentation over three weeks: one week of cold pre-maceration and two weeks of maceration with some punch-downs and a predominance of pump-overs to encourage fruit expression and produce wines that would be enjoyable to drink during the festival weekend. The excellent 2022 vintage will also allow us to achieve this goal. Seventeen 228-liter barrels were produced, nine of which were Chambolle- Musigny , eight in Morey-Saint-Denis, with two new barrels for each cuvée The wines were bottled on November 28, 2023, a fruit day. The new barrels were donated by the Cavin, Chassin, and Rousseau cooperages, and the older barrels by winegrowers from the two communes. The corks were donated by Vigas, and the bottles by the Cheveau company. Ladoix -Serrigny). The eco-friendly labels (Imprim'Vert) were printed at Millésimes, in Nuits-Saint-Georges.

The two collective vintages

Chambolle- Musigny 2022 Beautiful, brilliant, purplish robe. Very soft aromas of flowers (peonies, violets), with notes of raspberries. The palate is all about "sweet" fruit, silky, fine, harmonious and luscious.

Morey-Saint-Denis 2022 Made from perfectly ripe grapes (nearly 13% natural alcohol), this cuvée presents a more intense color than the chambolle- musigny , aromas focused on black fruits: cherries, blackberries, blueberries… The palate is dense, fleshy, rich, silky, with generous fruitiness and a lovely sweetness in the finish.

A "collector's" glass

The Saint-Vincent Tournante glass is certainly unique, so enjoy it! 70,000 were produced, but only for the 2024 edition, which purchased the mold and has no intention of producing any more in the future. Several glassworks were contacted; four responded, supplying twenty-four different glasses, and in the end, it was once again the Champagne-based glassworks Lehmann that won the contract, meeting a simple set of specifications: a durable glass, tall enough to fit in a glass holder, and suitable for both red and white wines (Burgundy). blanc And aligoté ) and original, in keeping with the theme "Arts and Wine." After several back-and-forths with the glassworks, the choice fell on a glass with thirty-six internal optical ridges. "During a rotating SVT (Science and Technology of Life) tasting session, we taste fairly young wines, and these internal optical ridges accelerate the oxygenation of the wines, their aromatic and gustatory development. Overall, it's very popular with its Art Deco and elegant style," explains Jérôme Castagnier, head of the communications committee. With meticulous attention to detail, the two Saints from the poster are well represented on the glass, holding a glass with… optical ridges.
