After the 2025 break, the Percée du Vin Jaune is preparing its grand return to Lons-le-Saunier on January 31 and February 1, 2026. The organizers have called upon an event professional to offer a "smoother" experience to the tens of thousands of visitors expected.
"Everyone was unhappy about the absence of the "Percée du Vin Jaune", (a traditional Jura wine event) in 2025: the public, and us too, the interprofession," admits Marine Couturier, the new director of CIVJ (Interprofessionnal Concil of Jura Wines). "But this year has given us the necessary perspective we need to identify areas for improvement. The last editions, although highly acclaimed, had highlighted a heavy workload for the volunteers, as well as congestion and long waiting times for the public.
A coordinator has been recruited
Thus, "the great novelty of this 2026 edition, to be held on January 31 and February 1 in Lons-le-Saunier, lies in the professionalization of its organization", summarizes Marine Couturier. "The Ambassadeurs des Vins Jaunes association chose to recruit a dedicated in-house coordinator, Laurène Hivon, an expert in event organization. She arrived at the end of August, and is now the conductor of the twenty or so committees involved in La Percée. A "fresh eye" that should " take some pressure off the volunteers, while ensuring better and safer conditions for participants".
The focus will be on ensuring a smooth experience. "Being in Lons-le-Saunier, an urban area, should help. Efforts will focus in particular on improving access to the cellars, a sticking spot in previous editions, by prioritizing accessibility and safety. The aim is to make the experience as pleasant and comfortable as possible, while retaining the friendly, traditional spirit of the event."
A program true to tradition
Thus, the program for this 2026 Percée will remain true to its core principles. "All the highlights of previous editions will be maintained: the industry banquet on Thursday evening; winegrowers' meetings on Friday; the procession, the tapping of the barrels, the cooking competition and battle on Saturday; the auction on Sunday and, of course, tastings all weekend long."
